About the Mayan Challenge
The Mayan Challenge is USA Sport Karate’s Florida State Championships, a signature 5-star event bringing together athletes across USA Sport Karate and USA Sport Kombat for one weekend of professional competition. Held September 18–20, 2026 at the Sheraton Sand Key Resort in Clearwater Beach, the weekend opens with a pre-event seminar featuring Kameren Ali on September 18, followed by two full days of championship divisions on September 19 and 20.
Athlete First, Standards Matter
Every decision at the Mayan Challenge starts with the athlete — and every division is run to a standard athletes can count on.
- Athlete First: schedules, rings, and officiating are built around competitors and their families, not around the convenience of the event.
- Standards Matter: divisions are judged under official USA Sport Karate and USA Sport Kombat rules, with consistent scoring, contact regulation, and arbitration procedures.
- Respect on the Floor: competitors, coaches, and officials are held to the same standard of conduct from the first ring to the final award.
USA Sport Karate Vision
To be the standard-bearer for sport karate and sport kombat competition in the United States — a place where athletes of every age and rank can test themselves on a professional, fairly judged floor and be recognized for it.
USA Sport Karate Mission
To deliver 5-star events with clear rules, trained officials, and consistent standards; to grow the sport by welcoming new competitors and schools; and to celebrate discipline, respect, and sportsmanship in every division we run.
Two Disciplines. One Weekend.
Athletes compete across USA Sport Karate — traditional forms, traditional weapons, point fighting, and open rank fighting — and USA Sport Kombat — light contact, kick light, and kombat divisions.
